Land Acknowledgement
"Newcomer Apprenticeship Connections (NAC) acknowledges that we are located on Treaty 1 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Red River Métis."
Our office is located on Treaty 1 Territory, and we benefit daily from clean drinking water sourced through Shoal Lake 39 and Shoal Lake 40 First Nations in Treaty 3 Territory, as well as hydroelectric power generated on Treaty 5 Territory. These connections remind us that treaty relationships continue to shape our lives and carry responsibilities that we all share.
Whether newcomers or long-established residents, we all share a responsibility to learn from Indigenous peoples and honour the treaties that make our lives and work in Manitoba possible.
As an organization that supports newcomers pursuing careers in Manitoba's skilled trades, we are committed to building relationships rooted in respect, reciprocity, and reconciliation. We will continue to learn from Indigenous communities, incorporate Indigenous perspectives into our work in meaningful ways, and foster opportunities for dialogue, understanding, and collaboration.
We encourage our participants, partners, and staff to deepen their understanding of the histories, cultures, treaties, and rights of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Resources such as the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and the Manitoba Métis Federation provide valuable opportunities for learning and reflection.
